Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN must comply with all professional standards and regulations, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant nursing association standards. The role promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to hospital policy.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and time management.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance Model through unit council participation and improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and continuing education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
