Emergency Department Staff Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Location: Johnson City, New York

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care by protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN is accountable for compliance with professional nursing standards and regulations, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant nursing association standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to hospital policy.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance Model through unit council participation and improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
