Job Opportunity: Nurse Manager - Patient Care Service

Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Lead nursing practice focused on patient care using Relationship Centered Care and Modified Primary Nursing models. Oversee purposeful hourly rounding, staff competency, patient experience, and quality and safety initiatives to promote a therapeutic and efficient care environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Lead nursing practice based on Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery Model.
• Demonstrate and role model Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) behaviors; ensure staff compliance through observation and feedback.
• Conduct daily patient rounding (Monday-Friday).
• Communicate patient experience and staff engagement data to interdisciplinary teams and develop action plans.
• Collaborate with physician dyad and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Follow up on patient concerns and provide service recovery as needed.
• Exhibit caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions.

Patient Experience

• Role model Relationship Centered Care actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Medication Review, and Discharge Wrap Up.
• Lead staff huddles to identify high-risk patients and communicate concerns to nursing leadership.
• Initiate service recovery and escalate issues as needed.
• Interpret and communicate patient experience scores and benchmarks to staff.
• Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in care delivery.
• Empower staff to use evidence-based practices to improve patient perceptions of care.

Quality and Safety

• Design and lead a safe, therapeutic, patient-centered care environment.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective action plans.
• Foster a culture encouraging error and near-miss reporting.
• Lead interdisciplinary quality improvement teams using high reliability principles.
• Review unit progress and compliance with quality and safety metrics.
• Respond to safety hazards or practice gaps following institutional protocols.
• Monitor and address gaps in clinical nurse documentation.
• Lead staff participation in quality, safety initiatives, and compliance measures.
• Ensure accountability for unit quality and safety practices and staff competency evaluations.

Education & Licensing

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Master’s degree in nursing or health-related field preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State required.

Experience Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of nursing clinical care experience.
• Charge Nurse or Supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have relevant clinical competence in assigned nursing practice area.
