MRI Technologist - Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Job Summary

• Verify patient identification and obtain patient history, ensuring patient safety and understanding.
• Document pregnancy status for patients of childbearing age.
• Demonstrate knowledge of MRI technology and cross-sectional human anatomy.
• Operate MRI scanners and related equipment proficiently, including automatic injections of MRI contrast, PACS, and image transfer systems.
• Maintain active ARRT status by accruing continuing education credits as needed.
• Interpret protocols, select appropriate scanning parameters, and assist in troubleshooting equipment and protocol issues.
• Administer oral and IV contrast to adult and pediatric patients following safety protocols and lab value checks.
• Manage image transfer and verification using PACS, EMR, EPIC, and IMPAX tools.
• Ensure accuracy of charge information and patient demographic data on images.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work environment and document incidents for quality improvement.
• Precept new employees and students.
• Participate in challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research.
• Review patient charts and reports for correlation.

Contract Length

• 14 weeks

Required Education

• Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences (ARRT) or registry eligible.
• Registry eligible candidates must provide a diploma from an accredited program.
• Must obtain advanced certification in MR within one year of employment.
• Must maintain registry status and continuing education annually.
• Current competency in Healthcare Provider (HCP) Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
