Job Opportunity: Clinical Nurse Manager
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse Manager coordinates the delivery of resident care and is responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing policies and procedures. As the team leader, the Nurse Manager maintains operational aspects of the assigned unit in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold the mission and core values of the facility in daily practice.
- Improve organizational systems and processes continuously.
- Make team decisions to fulfill the mission and vision.
- Treat residents, families, and co-workers with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
- Support a clinical environment where nursing staff provides exceptional resident care.
- Foster staff engagement and involvement to support a professional practice environment.
- Establish and maintain relationships with residents, families, and guardians, ensuring excellent communication and ongoing education.
- Ensure staff schedules meet residents’ needs and maintain accountability for standards of care.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate information.
- Participate in policy, procedure, and regulatory requirement development and ensure team compliance.
- Maintain standards of care and oversee compliance with care planning and facility policies.
- Adhere to infection control standards and safety protocols.
- Ensure nursing staff documentation complies with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Address unit issues promptly, complete incident reports, and conduct root cause analyses.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely and accurate nursing documentation.
- Assess and secure resources needed to uphold care standards, including supplies and equipment.
- Apply progressive disciplinary processes, including coaching and counseling staff performance.
- Monitor and follow up on resident care issues, family complaints, and regulatory compliance, including New York State Resident Abuse reporting regulations.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Nursing and collaborate with administrative personnel across shifts for consistent practice.
- Work with Nursing Education to identify training needs and provide in-service education aligned with resident and family needs.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Licensure & Certifications
- New York State RN License
- BLS (American Heart Association)
Experience
- Acute or Long Term Care experience required
- Nurse Manager or Supervisory experience preferred
- Ventilator experience preferred
Other Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Must meet health standards as established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical examination
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to assist in resident evacuation if necessary
- Tasks may involve exposure to residents’ blood/body fluids
