Job Opportunity: CT Technologist

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Summary

As a CT Technologist, you will perform computerized tomography imaging under the supervision of certified radiologists. Responsibilities include producing diagnostic images, assisting radiologists during procedures, and supervising student Radiologic Technologists. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and maintaining excellent patient care and communication.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CT imaging procedures following established protocols and physician orders.
  • Ensure patient safety and provide age-appropriate care during imaging.
  • Prepare and instruct patients on procedures, assist with informed consent, and communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Supervise and assist student technologists in clinical education.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure correct orders and clinical history are entered, and communicate with radiologists.
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines (ALARA principles) and comply with hospital and regulatory policies (OSHA, DHEC, FDA, TJC).
  • Assist other imaging team members and contribute to departmental operations and improvements.
  • Work may require standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, exposure to radiation, infectious materials, and occasional work under stressful conditions including weekends, holidays, or on-call.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Allied Health program preferred. Completion of an accredited Computed Tomography program preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification required.
    • South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification required.
    • ARRT CT certification preferred.
    • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce diagnostic-quality images.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
  • Competence in operating CT and post-processing equipment as well as standard office equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and patient lifting/moving (up to 50 lbs).
  • Frequent use of hand/finger dexterity and reaching.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, and chemicals.
  • Work environment ranges from quiet to moderate noise levels.
  • May require working irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
