Description

Job Opportunity: RN Oncology - Surgical

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks


Job Description

Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage care for an assigned group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments; note changes in physician orders.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtain and monitor patients' physiological data; observe and intervene as necessary.
  • Administer prescribed medications.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver competent patient care.
  • Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
  • Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Oncology nursing experience within the last year.
  • Oncology nursing experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Certification from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Stepdown unit nursing experience.
  • Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience.
