Description

Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery (Contract)

Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide patient-centered nursing care in an ambulatory surgery setting by applying nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Prioritize patient education, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care using critical thinking and the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and evaluate care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Manage nursing assignments and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Role model patient experience best practices including admission, bedside shift report, purposeful rounding, medication review, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, respecting cultural diversity and individual preferences.
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives, process improvements, and compliance measures.
  • Identify and escalate safety hazards and barriers to care.
  • Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Ambulatory Surgery, including experience within the last year
  • One year or more of total travel nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
