Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU provides direct patient care under supervision, implementing the nursing process including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The RN collaborates with the care team to ensure quality patient care and is responsible for timely and accurate documentation, communication, and coordination of services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate care based on patient assessment and growth/development principles.
• Perform technical nursing skills including medication administration, IV starts, Foley catheter insertion and maintenance, venipuncture, blood product administration, restraint application, sterile dressing changes, and maintenance of various lines (intracranial, central, arterial, peripheral).
• Care for ventilated patients and manage tracheostomies.
• Operate and troubleshoot clinical equipment such as traction devices, wound vacuum systems, monitoring devices, and dialysis equipment.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans; educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and medications.
• Use critical thinking and professional judgment to respond promptly to clinical changes and prevent complications.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and adhere to organizational standards including safety, infection control, and compliance.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and standards of care consistently.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi
• Licensed RN able to practice in the State of Mississippi
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
