Description

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Acute Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
  • Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients.
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
  • Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
  • Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed; interpret and record measurements.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report adverse medication reactions promptly.
  • Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
  • Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records.
  • Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State with Primary Source Verification.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg and Telemetry experience.
  • Med/Surg and Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute.
  • Experience in Acute Care settings.
  • Experience in Post Acute Care settings.
