CT Technologist - Travel Position
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel, Clinical Allied Health
Job Summary
Under the supervision of certified radiologists, the CT Technologist performs computerized tomography scans of designated anatomical areas as ordered by physicians. Responsibilities include producing diagnostic images, assisting radiologists during procedures, and supervising student radiologic technologists. The role requires maintaining good patient relations and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient care and safety during imaging procedures using age-appropriate care.
- Follow established protocols and obtain correct written orders for procedures.
- Efficiently operate imaging equipment to minimize repeat exams and control supply costs.
- Prepare and instruct patients on imaging procedures; assist with informed consent as needed.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, patients, and family members.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and regulatory standards (ALARA principles, OSHA, DHEC, FDA, TJC).
- Assist in clinical education of student technologists.
- Support departmental goals and maintain confidentiality of medical information.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other imaging team members and clerical staff.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, and patient lifting/moving (up to 50 lbs).
- Use of fine motor skills and frequent reaching.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, and chemicals.
- Work may involve stressful conditions, deadlines, irregular hours, call, weekends, and holidays.
- Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduation from an accredited Allied Health or Computed Tomography program preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
- ARRT registration in CT preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
Contract Length
- 12 weeks
Additional Notes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce diagnostic images is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and ability to operate standard office equipment required.
