Job Opportunity: RN - ICU Step Down

Location: Elmhurst, New York
Employment Type: Acute - Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

Provide care for patients transitioning out of the ICU who require more attention than those on a general medical-surgical unit. Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring patients with medical equipment such as catheters, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, ventilators, and cardiac monitors
• Managing an RN to patient ratio of 1:4, caring for patients ranging from young adults to geriatric
• Performing frequent patient assessments and escalating changes in medical condition appropriately
• Responding to cardiac arrest and rapid response codes

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Step-Down experience, including stepdown experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
• 2 years of conscious sedation experience
• Med Surg experience

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid New York State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
