Registered Nurse - Med/Surg
Location: Elmhurst, New York
Employment Type: Acute Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
- Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed; interpret and record measurements.
- Monitor patients' vitals and report adverse reactions to medications promptly.
- Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
- Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records.
- Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital or post-acute facility setting, with the most recent experience within the past year.
- Experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing.
- Experience in an acute care setting and a post-acute setting.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York with Primary Source Verification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
