Job Opportunity: Maternal Fetal Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Job Summary

• Assist radiologists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques specialized in maternal fetal ultrasound.
• Provide standardization and training to residents on these exams.
• Consult with patients to evaluate contraindications such as medications, insufficient preparation, or patient tolerance.
• Perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision.
• Conduct essential maternal-fetal ultrasound exams including:

  • Detailed anatomical evaluation
  • Complete fetal echocardiogram
  • Growth assessment
  • Fetal wellbeing assessments (biophysical profiles, maternal/fetal Doppler, amniotic fluid assessments)
  • Needle procedure guidance
  • Maternal pelvic anatomy exams (including transvaginal cervical assessment)
  • Advanced diagnostic 3D/4D techniques
• Record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for physician interpretation.
• Assist supervising physician with invasive procedures as needed.
• Analyze sonography findings to ensure comprehensive exams and sufficient data for diagnosis.
• Recognize abnormalities requiring radiologist observation.
• Image structures while obtaining Doppler signals and record images and Doppler shifts.
• Advise radiologist and referring OB provider of exam results and provide preliminary diagnostic information.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience performing complex OB/GYN or vascular ultrasound scans.
• Ob/Gyn Sonographer experience within the last year.
• Vascular Sonographer experience.

Education

• Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program.

Certifications & Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in OB or OB/GYN.
