Staff Nurse

Location: Johnson City, New York

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and professional development according to state regulations and nursing codes of ethics. The role promotes a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Share responsibility for productivity and resource utilization including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning environments for new employees and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Acute Care experience with a minimum of 5 years, including experience within the last year
• Critical care/ICU level experience, including ICU skills checklist and Intensive Care Unit experience
• Experience with ventilators (vents)
• Experience with vasoactive IV drips (vasoactive gtts) and sedative IV drips (sedative gtts)
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience in management roles
• RN nursing experience of at least 6 months
• Direct nursing experience of at least 5 years
