Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Wound Care

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks


Job Summary

  • Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
  • Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care; assist in selecting supplies, technology, and equipment.
  • Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments.
  • Evaluate quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members and make referrals as needed.
  • Teach, counsel, and assist patients and families in preventing complications related to wounds, ostomies, or continence issues.
  • Develop and provide staff education programs including orientation, in-services, and continuing education.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures.
  • Communicate challenges including ethical and conflict resolution issues.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities at unit and hospital levels.
  • Provide culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient data.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain clinical competency.
  • Identify and refer clients to community resources.
  • Manage assets related to rented equipment such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Experience in wound and colostomy care.

  • No prior travel experience required.
