Registered Nurse - Nephrology

- 36 hours per week
- Experience in Med/Surg and Stepdown required
- Charge nurse experience is a significant plus
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as necessary
- Administer medications as prescribed
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
- Deliver competent patient care
- Communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
- Delegate tasks to support staff
Specialty-Specific Skills
- Familiarity with central line care and management
- Foley catheter care and management
- End-of-life care and management
- Proper care for dialysis sites (e.g., avoid using HD catheters or accessing fistulas for blood draws)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in nephrology nursing
- Experience in Med/Surg nursing
- Experience in Stepdown nursing
- End-of-life care and management experience
