Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
- Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- IEMA Radiography License
- ARRT (R)
- Associate's degree in a related field or certificate in radiologic technology
- Previous Radiologic Technology experience in a procedural setting
- Radiology Technologist experience
Experience / Skills
- Previous radiologic technology experience in a procedural setting preferred
- Experience with interventional neurology preferred
- Ability to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures
- Ability to pull supplies for procedures
- Ability to learn and retain patient care and procedure information
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately
- Compassionate and caring demeanor
- Manual dexterity for handling small supplies
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during invasive cardiology and invasive radiology procedures
- Administer contrast when applicable, including via existing IV line or venipuncture and IV placement
- Assess for and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
- Verify patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position
- Compile pertinent clinical information
- Explain procedures and support patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality
- Document accurately and completely
- Inform procedural nurse of intra-procedural medication doses and radiation and sponge/sharp counts
- Assist with inventory and supplies
- Perform peripheral vascular, venous central line, tube change, embolization, venous thrombectomy, dialysis access, and tube access/change procedures
- Assist with training new staff as needed
