Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location
- Detroit, Michigan
Job Summary
- Perform radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician.
- Utilize independent judgment for radiographic techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
- Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain supplies.
- Operate radiologic equipment manually to obtain diagnostic images.
- May select and administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
- Apply radiation protection principles including shielding and dose reduction techniques.
- Follow infection control practices and maintain sterile equipment as required.
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, comfort, and legal/ethical rights.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including logs, patient records, and radiology information system entries.
- Assist in teaching and educating new hires and students.
- Manage image quality and delivery into PACS and complete study indexing in RIS.
- Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols before studies.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills consistently.
Shift & Hours
- 12-hour shifts, scheduled from 3:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- 36 hours per week
Contract Length
- Approximately 16 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients.
- Must maintain required continuing education hours.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Work primarily in hospital settings including inpatient departments, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
- Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and patients exceeding 10 lbs.

Note: Overtime is available after 48 hours worked.
