Description
Registered Nurse - Wound Care
Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Acute Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: 4 shifts per week (10 hours each), every other weekend
Hours per Week: 38 hours
Job Summary
- Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate.
- Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and make referrals as needed.
- Provide patient, family, and staff education, including culturally competent care.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain professional competency.
- Manage assets related to rented specialty equipment (e.g., specialty beds, negative pressure devices).
- Identify and assist clients in utilizing community resources.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience within the last year.
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State with primary source verification.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification.
- Current certification in one of the following wound care credentials:
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)
- Wound Care Certified (WCC)
Additional Information
- This role involves routine comprehensive assessments to prevent pressure injuries and escalation of ethical or conflict resolution issues.
- The position requires collaboration with nursing leadership to recommend best practices.
