Registered Nurse ICU - Pediatrics

• Float Pool position covering multiple pediatric units

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Weekends and holidays required

Unit Float Details

• Float to:

  • 34-bed Pediatric ICU (PICU)
  • 25-bed Cardiac ICU (CICU)
  • 112-bed Neonatal ICU (NICU) (low acuity feeder growers only, not traditional NICU)
  • Acute care units including surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down unit, and cardiac pediatrics

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year nursing experience
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Experience with tracheostomy care and high flow oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with infusion therapy; first line for skills

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary
• Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
• Communicate care plans with patients and families, including at discharge
• Make referrals for patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff

Required Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Some computer skills
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Experience in Pediatric Behavioral Health
• Experience in Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown unit
• Experience with tracheostomy care
• Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with infusion therapy
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association

No prior travel experience is required for this position.
