Description

Registered Nurse - MedSurg

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 12 hours per day, 48 hours per week


Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in ongoing education to meet personal learning needs.
  • Use patient education materials and assess patient/family readiness and developmental level for learning.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan evaluation and revision.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care.
  • Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Follow organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues and discharge planning.
  • Develop professional growth goals and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
  • Assess and anticipate discharge needs, fostering relationships that empower patient and family advocacy.
  • Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
  • Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.

  • No prior travel experience required.
