Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Assignment

Location: Cushing, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
Schedule: Possible 36/48 rotation; 36-hour guarantee with open availability required per scheduling policy

Job Summary

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Perform technical and clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
• Attend sick calls with physician, prepare exam rooms, operate pill call, dispense medication, and document accordingly.
• Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency care as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records.
• Assist with review and documentation of medical services and pharmacy audits.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Prepare and maintain medical and operational records and reports.
• Support accreditation efforts by providing efficient and appropriate medical services.
• Respond to incidents, accidents, and emergencies as required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oklahoma.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year required.
• Additional nursing experience in other healthcare settings is also acceptable.

Work Environment & Additional Information

• Work primarily with inmate/resident population in a correctional healthcare setting.
• Must comply with facility policies including security and confidentiality protocols.
• Expected to have open availability to work nights and adhere to scheduling policies.

Hours

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week guaranteed

This position is a travel assignment in health services.
