Registered Dietitian

Location: Jackson, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Flexible hours with start times between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM
Hours: 40 hours per week (typically 4 - 10-hour shifts or 5 - 8-hour shifts, or a combination)

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive nutritional care as a consultant and resource to the healthcare team. Responsibilities include nutritional assessment, diagnosis, intervention, counseling, education, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Coordinate nutrition education programs and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ nutritional needs using medical records, patient/family interviews, and clinical data.
• Identify and diagnose nutrition-related problems that can be addressed through dietetic intervention.
• Implement individualized nutrition care plans including food/nutrient delivery (meals, supplements, enteral/parenteral nutrition), education, and counseling.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Educate patients and families on nutrition and special diets during and after hospitalization.
• Maintain accurate documentation of nutrition services in medical records.
• Develop and conduct in-service training, community education, and special projects related to nutrition.
• Supervise and mentor dietetic interns and students.
• Collaborate with culinary services to address patient and staff nutritional needs.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, and customer service excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Michigan.
• Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or a related field, or a Master’s degree, along with completion of an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and a supervised practice program (dietetic internship).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent full-time experience as an RDN within the last year.
• Experience in Long Term Acute Care (LTACH) and Rehabilitation settings.

Physical and Work Environment

• Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.

Additional Information

• Must follow oral and written instructions and perform arithmetic calculations as needed.
• Must meet core customer service standards including communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, excellence, teamwork, and respect.
• Prior travel experience is not required.
