Description
Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week)
Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures on patients. May also perform general diagnostic radiology exams. Duties include preparing patients and equipment, administering intravenous contrast media, assisting radiologists with complex procedures, and ensuring high-quality imaging and documentation.
Essential Functions
- Explain examination procedures and prepare patients.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
- Prepare procedure room and maintain supplies.
- Set up equipment and perform CT scans, manually controlling equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
- Administer intravenous contrast media using power injectors; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
- Assist radiologists with sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
- Manage image quality and delivery into PACS; complete study indexing in Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Confirm clinical protocols with radiologists before studies.
- Perform all required documentation in medical records and radiology systems.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork, communication, and respect for diversity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or ongoing requirement to maintain continued medical education hours
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) with ARRT (CT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- May work in hospital fixed units or ambulatory mobile units.
- Potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment; must follow safety precautions.
- Possible exposure to contagious patients.
- Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients over 10 lbs.
