Description

Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel)

Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care to patients on a telemetry unit, applying nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver nursing care based on Relationship Centered Care and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking.
  • Integrate assessment and intervention skills in care delivery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team on care plans.
  • Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing model.

Patient Experience

  • Facilitate admission welcome, bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, medication review, discharge wrap-up, and collaboration with physicians.
  • Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions.
  • Initiate service recovery and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify barriers to improvement.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills essential to quality and safety.
  • Implement process improvement and evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in peer and institutional reviews.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
  • Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
  • Escalate safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Document nursing practice accurately to support quality initiatives.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate supply and inventory management with leadership.
  • Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
  • Use patient-focused, cost-effective approaches to resource utilization.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
  • Maintain thorough and compliant documentation.

  • Advance clinical competence from novice to expert.
  • Project a professional image demonstrating caring and empathy.
  • Apply ethical principles in decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Minimum 2 years telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience

Shift Details

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other week schedule
  • Approximately 34.5 hours per week (11 hours per day)
