Description
Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography
Location
- Novi, Michigan
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Setting
- Trauma Level 2 facility
- Units: Emergency Room, Inpatient, and Outpatient
- May work in hospital fixed unit or ambulatory mobile unit
Schedule
- 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
- Every other weekend
- Shift hours: 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
Job Summary
- Perform computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures under general supervision
- May perform general diagnostic radiology exams
- Prepare patients and explain procedures
- Review clinical data and patient medical history
- Set up and operate CT equipment, including manual control to obtain diagnostic images
- Administer intravenous contrast media using power injectors and monitor patients for reactions
- Assist Radiologist with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies
- Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques)
- Manage imaging workflow including PACS image quality and RIS study indexing
- Document all procedures in medical records and radiology information system
- Follow clinical protocols and communicate with Radiologists as needed
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork, and professionalism
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT), or registry-eligible
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or ongoing maintenance of required hours for continued medical education
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment; must use proper precautions
- Possible exposure to contagious patients
- Occasionally lift or move equipment or patients over 10 lbs
