Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - CV Surgery ICU

Location

  • Rochester, Minnesota

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day/Night rotation: 07:00–19:30 and 19:00–07:30
  • Straight night shifts: 19:00–07:30
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Floating as needed

Job Overview

  • Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care
  • Provide leadership through precepting, mentoring, teaching, and quality improvement activities
  • Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, and resources
  • Participate in committees or projects as applicable
  • Must pass an ECG exam during orientation to continue assignment

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Cardiovascular Surgery ICU (CVS ICU) nursing experience
  • Minimum 1 year of total travel nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cardiovascular Surgery ICU experience
  • Experience with ventricular assist devices (VAD), Impella, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and balloon pumps
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification

  • Skilled in patient care coordination and education for patients and families
  • Ability to work within a professional nursing practice model
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and teaching skills
  • Quality improvement participation and informal leadership roles

Note: Prior travel nursing experience is required for this position.
