Registered Nurse – Open Heart

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM), Monday to Friday
• Hours per week: 40 hours

Job Summary

• Provide professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Manage patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Use evidence-based nursing practices and protocols.
• Develop individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Perform patient assessments including interviews, observations, and physical exams.
• Document patient progress and modify care plans as needed.
• Perform bedside lab testing and specimen collection following medical orders and policies.
• Promote patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment.
• Share clinical knowledge and support professional development of self and team.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care from admission to discharge.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Provide culturally competent patient education tailored to age, gender, and developmental needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year.
• Cardiology experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
