Description

Radiologic Technologist – Computed Tomography

Location

Detroit, Michigan

Contract

13 weeks

Schedule

  • Midnights, 6p–6a
  • Every other weekend
  • Weekend rotation required
  • Block scheduling available
  • No on-call

Setting

  • CT imaging for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients
  • May also work in a hospital-based fixed unit or ambulatory mobile unit

Required Qualifications

  • CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • CT Technologist (1 year of experience)
  • ARRT (CT)
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CT and, when needed, general diagnostic radiology examinations
  • Prepare patients and explain procedures
  • Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed
  • Set up equipment, perform scans, and control equipment to obtain diagnostic images
  • Administer IV contrast media and monitor for reactions
  • Assist with sterile procedures and biopsies
  • Follow radiation protection and ALARA principles
  • Complete image handling and study documentation in PACS and RIS
  • Confirm protocols with the radiologist as needed
  • Document in the medical record and radiology information system

Work Conditions

  • May be exposed to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients
  • May need to lift or move equipment or patients over 10 lbs

Preferred Experience

  • GE and Siemens experience
  • Prior hospital environment experience

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to work independently in a high-volume setting
  • Continued medical education is required
