Histology Tech

Location

Houston, Texas

Schedule

Day shift
Monday to Friday
8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Contract

13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Histology Technologist (2 years of experience)
Histology Technologist experience within the last year
HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)
Associate's degree in Science or Histology

Preferred Experience

Hospital or reference lab experience
Experience with special stains, frozen sections, and non-gyn cytology processing

Key Responsibilities

Validate specimen identification and sample suitability
Process specimens using a tissue processor
Embed tissues and section slides to required quality and productivity standards
Perform routine staining procedures, including AFB, MSN, Gram, and Oro
Coverslip, label, and distribute slides for pathologist review
Assist with liver biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and fresh specimen retrieval
Perform technical and specimen/result inquiry functions and troubleshoot problems

Additional Notes

Parking compensation must be arranged through the agency; the facility is not responsible for parking
Knowledge of hospital and laboratory operations is expected
Basic computer skills and working knowledge of special stains, paraffin tissue sectioning, and common lab equipment are needed
