RN Medicine Specialty
Location
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
Role Overview
- Provides nursing care in a hospital setting for patients with a range of health problems
- May be floated to any area of the hospital
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- 1 year of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry
- Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Stepdown experience

- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
- Ability to apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Some computer skills
Core Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
- Note changes in physician orders for assigned patients
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
- Obtain and monitor physiological data
- Observe physiological manifestations and intervene when necessary
- Administer medication as prescribed
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
- Deliver patient care competently
- Share care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
- Delegate tasks to support staff
