Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics
Location
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Schedule
- Nights
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts
- May require on-call coverage on days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- 2 years of experience as a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience in at least one of the following specialties: Pediatrics (Peds), PICU, and/or NICU
- Recent experience in the specialty
- Oscillatory ventilator experience within the last 5 years
- Experience with Epic
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current RRT certification by the NBRC
- ACLS or NRP or PALS or CPFT or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and related treatments
- Perform airway procedures such as tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, aspiration of established airways, endotracheal intubations, and extubations
- May perform pulmonary function testing as needed
- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients
- May perform advanced practice procedures under protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
- May manage ECMO support when assigned
- Set up, monitor, and wean ventilator support as needed
- Work independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to other staff
