Description
Registered Nurse, Med-Surg/Telemetry
Location
- Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Schedule
- Night shift
- 12-hour shifts
- 42 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No PTO
- No scheduling restrictions
Contract
- 9 weeks
- Short-term assignment
- Start needed as soon as possible
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Mississippi
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
Role Highlights
- Provides nursing care for Med-Surg/Telemetry patients, including cardiac monitoring and stroke care
- May float to Med-Surg/Telemetry units as needed
- Will assist with holding patients in the Emergency Department, but will not be assigned Emergency Department patients
Key Skills and Responsibilities
- Nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Medication administration
- IV access and IV line maintenance
- Foley catheter maintenance
- Venipuncture
- Blood product administration
- Restraint application and monitoring
- Sterile dressing and routine/complex treatments
- Patient positioning and safe use of mobility/support devices
- Documentation and bedside shift reports
- Equipment troubleshooting, including telemetry monitoring devices and wound vacuum systems

- Orientation is on Tuesdays
- Scrubs: Galaxy Blue
- Professional appearance required, including natural or neutral hair colors
- Epic experience required
- Kronos used for timekeeping

Hattiesburg is best known as the home of the University of Southern Mississippi, William Carey University and Camp Shelby, the largest National Guard training base east of the Mississippi River.
