Your role involves providing guidance to ancillary staff, ensuring adherence to professional standards, and contributing positively to the patient and family experience.
As a team member committed to excellence, you will be accessible, flexible, knowledgeable, and responsive, fostering a compassionate environment to support patients, families, and colleagues alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychological, social, and educational needs upon admission, completing written assessments within designated timeframes.
- Develop individualized care plans based on assessments, initiating them within 24 hours of admission, and updating regularly to reflect patient progress.
- Implement care plans effectively, documenting outcomes and revising as necessary.
- Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families, promoting a compassionate environment.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions, medications, and self-care strategies; answer questions and promote independence.
- Ensure high-quality care by following therapeutic standards, evaluating patient outcomes, and making necessary adjustments in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and controlled substance regulations to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Document all patient interactions accurately, communicating effectively with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Lead and delegate tasks appropriately within the team, utilizing strong leadership and communication skills.
- Recognize changes in patient status promptly, intervening and documenting as required.
- Facilitate appropriate referrals during discharge planning in collaboration with case management.
- Engage in ongoing education and unit participation, attending at least eight staff meetings annually and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate actively in team problem-solving and communicate unit concerns following established chains of command.
- Adhere to hospital policies, standards, confidentiality, and compliance requirements, supporting the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan, and tailoring care to individual needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and quality care.
What You Bring:

- Proven experience in Med Surg or Telemetry units preferred, with a strong foundation in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and advocate for patients and families.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities, including delegation and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize effectively and manage a diverse patient load.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and respond to changing patient needs promptly.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in Medical Surgical or Telemetry nursing.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, medication administration standards, and patient safety practices.
Additional Details:
- No call required.
- Every other weekend shift schedule.
- Will be required to float between Med Surg and Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
Join Memorial Healthcare’s compassionate team and advance your nursing career in a supportive, dynamic environment. Your expertise will make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives every day.
