Location: Neptune, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 19 weeks


Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic examinations with minimal supervision. The role involves producing high-quality images by positioning patients, selecting appropriate technical factors, and operating radiographic equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce diagnostic radiographic exams by positioning patients and using immobilization devices.
  • Select and operate equipment for specific radiographic procedures.
  • Restrict radiation exposure to unaffected parts of the patient using cones and collimators.
  • Perform portable x-ray exams in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
  • Identify and mark patient films correctly with name, x-ray number, and side of the body.
  • Develop exposed x-ray films using available processing methods.
  • Complete patient requisitions with necessary details (technologist initials, date, film number, and size).
  • Maintain an orderly x-ray room as directed.
  • Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering it.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, patient instruction, film filing, record maintenance, and patient reception.
  • Assist patients with mobility needs during exams (e.g., moving, turning, getting on/off tables).
  • Physically able to lift at least 5 lbs, push/pull 10 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
  • Adapt care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, including considerations for age, culture, language, and disabilities.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and competencies.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License.
  • Eligibility to meet National Registry requirements and pass the examination.
