Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment Skills:
  Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric). Deliver appropriate patient care based on assessment findings.

• Clinical Skills:
  Provide competent and appropriate nursing care to telemetry patients. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in emergency equipment and procedures. Support patient care delivery within a team environment.

• Documentation:
  Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes and patient progress, including patient education, following documentation guidelines.

• Professionalism:
  Adhere to professional practice standards, policies, and procedures. Identify opportunities for clinical and professional growth.

• Patient Satisfaction:
  Respond professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers. Promote a patient-centered care environment and maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

• Safety:
  Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers. Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.

• Unit-Specific Functions:
  Demonstrate knowledge of conditions, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients. Individualize care based on procedure and anesthesia type. Assess patient understanding and reactions.

• Responsibility and Accountability:
  Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and condition changes. Contribute effectively to the perioperative team.

• Patient Education and Chart Completion:
  Assess patient and family understanding of surgical procedures and instructions. Provide pre-operative and postoperative education and assessments.

• Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Duties:
  Support timely completion of patient testing. Evaluate PAT orders for appropriateness based on surgery type, patient age, and health status.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience
• Current RN License (New Jersey)
• BLS Certification
• Dysrhythmia Certification (Required)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Physical Requirements

• As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards
