PICU RN Position - Albuquerque, New Mexico
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift using the nursing process.
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 for holding Pediatric or SAC status patients.
- Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs and responses.
- Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document accordingly.
- Identify and address patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care.
- Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
- Complete patient population/age-specific education and competency testing per unit standards.
- Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Skills & Experience
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years current experience in a 12+ bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Pediatric CVICU experience is a plus.
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
Education Requirements
- Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
Certifications & Licensure
- Required: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- Required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- BLS and PALS must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
This position is ideal for experienced PICU nurses looking for a travel assignment in a dynamic, pediatric critical care environment.
