Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN) - Local Contract

Location: Newport Beach, California
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - Local Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Serve as the clinical resource for patients and staff regarding ostomy, continence disorders, acute and chronic wounds, skin breakdown, and fistulae.
• Provide direct wound and ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Educate patients and families on wound and ostomy management pre- and post-operatively.
• Assist healthcare team with evaluation of skin and wound products and equipment.
• Deliver educational programs, in-services, and bedside teaching for nursing staff.
• Stay current with advances in skin care practices, assessments, evaluations, treatments, and prevention measures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess all patients with pressure injuries staged at 3 or above.
• Manage patients who develop hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) and ensure proper reporting.
• Evaluate hospital practices to reduce and eliminate HAPIs.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 4 years clinical experience (higher of any conflicting values).
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Licensure/Certification:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Wound and Ostomy Certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and ability to maintain trust and accountability.
• Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with technology and equipment related to wound and ostomy care.
• Ability to innovate and ensure customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years experience specifically in wound and ostomy care.

Travel Experience
