PICU RN Job Opportunity
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process for assigned patients during shifts.
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 for holding Pediatric or SAC status patients.
- Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient needs and responses.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed or per protocols.
- Identify and address patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care.
- Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
- Complete patient population, age-specific, procedure, and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
- Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years current experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with 12+ beds.
- Prior travel experience required: must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience is a plus.
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
Education Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
Certifications & Licensure
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- BLS and PALS must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
This position is ideal for experienced PICU nurses with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment in New Mexico.
