Radiology Specialist - X-Ray Tech (Austin, Texas)

Job Overview

• Perform routine and specialized radiographic procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
• Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
• Demonstrate detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Maintain high accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
• Pediatric experience is required.
• Coverage includes Fluoroscopy, X-ray, Portables, ER, and OR.
• Work schedule: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Check exam rooms daily to ensure adequate stock and maintain inventory.
• Confirm patient identity using approved identifiers.
• Provide age-appropriate care and prepare patients for procedures.
• Verify pregnancy and informed consent status.
• Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation.
• Determine type and dose of contrast agent based on patient age, weight, and medical status.
• Anticipate and respond to patient needs throughout the encounter.
• Operate and troubleshoot radiology equipment including automated processors, film digitizers, RIS, and PACS.
• Independently scan patients following established protocols.
• Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Provide courteous and supportive interactions with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Honor patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• Technical diploma and graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist (R-ARRT) certification.
• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
• Minimum 3 years of radiology experience across any/all modalities.
• Knowledge of radiology physics and procedures appropriate for patients from infancy to adulthood.
• Basic life support certification.
• Demonstrated professional competencies for satisfactory job performance.
