Job Opportunity: RN - Correctional

Location: Bakersfield, California
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients under nurse leader supervision.
  • Performs nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
  • Follows ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act.
  • Creates a compassionate, patient-centered environment supporting mind, body, and spirit healing.
  • Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risks.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Prioritizes nursing actions based on education, experience, and assessment data.
  • Establishes nursing diagnoses and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, revising care plans as needed.
  • Manages rapidly changing patient situations and activates emergency protocols when necessary.
  • Performs nursing duties using critical thinking and judgment consistent with scientific principles and hospital policy.
  • Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Works effectively within team dynamics and collaborates with care team members.
  • Ensures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides safe patient care by following infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Participates in staff meetings, professional governance, and nursing practice development activities.
  • Completes required competencies, mandatory classes, and educational coursework.
  • Maintains knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
  • Adheres to RN scope of practice and professional ethical standards.
  • Monitors own and others’ practices for patient and employee safety and compliance.
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in caring for the patient populations served.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (highest required).
  • Licensure: Valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Certifications: Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
  • Must meet all health requirements designated by the employer.
  • Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, medical terminology, instruments, equipment, and medication effects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) or Emergency Room (ER) nursing.
