Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance Model and participate in improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of direct nursing experience (highest requirement noted).
• Nursing (RN) experience ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
• Management experience from 0 to 3 years.
• Strong collaboration, communication (verbal and written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational skills, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, and safety/risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education & Licensure

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
• Current New York State RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC).
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
