Job Opportunity: RN UP - Ortho IP

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Specialty: Orthopedic Inpatient Nursing (RN UP - Ortho IP)

Job Description

  • Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to orthopedic inpatient care.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to orthopedic nursing practice.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
  • Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify personal learning needs and pursue appropriate education.
  • Fulfill departmental competency requirements and complete annual education related to DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program if applicable.
  • Assess orthopedic and medical/surgical patients every shift.
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, care transitions, and other patient-specific needs.
  • Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons.
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team staff.
  • Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care.
  • Manage wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.

Education

  • Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
  • Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Certifications & Licensure

  • Illinois state RN License in good standing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
