Job Opportunity: PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse)

Job Summary

• Provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift using the nursing process.
• Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
• Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed or per standard protocols.
• Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care.
• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
• Collaborate with ancillary teams and non-licensed assistive personnel.
• Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit (PCU).
• Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment (prior travel experience required).
• Ability to work as a team player, be flexible, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test administered onsite before starting the assignment. One retest allowed; failure on second attempt results in contract cancellation.

Education Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.

Certifications & Licensure

• Current State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Epic EMR system.
• NIHSS certification (preferred but not required).

This position is ideal for experienced PCU nurses with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-departmental environment.
