Job Description

• Evaluate and treat patients of all ages.
• Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff and students.
• Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed.
• Use safe and appropriate body mechanics to reduce injury risk.
• Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
• Evaluate clinical findings to determine diagnoses and outcomes of care.
• Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints and history.
• Screen patients to determine the need and effectiveness of therapy services.
• Use and monitor support personnel according to legal and ethical guidelines.
• Document evaluations, plans of care, goals, treatment modifications, and patient responses according to policy.

Department-Specific Functions

• Implement intervention plans using functional activities considering patient/family emotional and functional needs.
• Modify approaches based on patient behavior and performance.
• Utilize standardized outcome measures uniformly to reflect functional performance accurately.
• Complete documentation per regulatory and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and significant others throughout rehabilitation; provide education and family training as needed.
• Supervise COTA and rehabilitation technicians in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Communicate patient performance, status changes, activity/transfer recommendations, discharge disposition, and equipment needs with the medical team.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
• Licensure: Occupational Therapy (OT) license from Illinois
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
