Telemetry Technician - Long Island City, New York

Job Summary

• Provide advanced ECG monitoring by assessing patient status through ECG strip analysis and arrhythmia interpretation.
• Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes.
• Initiate codes and record rhythms during codes.
• Perform continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias.
• Troubleshoot monitoring problems and respond appropriately to all monitor alarms.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform electrocardiograms in multiple settings, including proper electrode placement.
• Communicate clearly with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
• Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
• Retrieve laboratory results and notify the charge nurse as needed.
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and organizational policies.
• Manage and operate monitoring and medical equipment safely and correctly.

Contract Length

• 9 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (issued within the last year) by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross.
  • Dysrhythmia Course.
• Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
