Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Associate (Contract)
Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations).
- Document intake, output, and other assigned data.
- Report any changes in patient condition or abnormal values to the registered nurse.
- Set up equipment and assist physicians and RNs with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including Upper Endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, manometry, spyglass, 24 hr pH, and Bravo procedures.
- Download patient information from Bravo and 24 hr pH into appropriate databases.
- Check equipment function and troubleshoot problems; coordinate repairs as needed.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment according to infection control guidelines; document processing activities.
- Maintain processing machines and perform scheduled maintenance such as filter changes.
- Perform clinical procedures such as specimen collection, EKG, post-mortem care, and skin integrity maintenance.
- Prepare specimens with proper labeling and documentation.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulation, and mobilization.
- Apply heat and cold treatments as necessary.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment; assist with room maintenance tasks.
- Assist in patient transport when needed.
- Maintain travel carts with supplies and ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain isolation status for patients under RN direction.
- Perform and document critical alarm checks on medication and nutrition refrigerators, call bells, and eyewash stations.
- Test procedure rooms for negative pressure.
- Perform daily inventory of supplies, place orders, and remove outdated items.
- Obtain and assemble supplies; maintain nutrition supplies.
- Generate reports as needed.
- Greet visitors, answer telephones courteously, and escort visitors as appropriate.
- Perform unit-specific duties such as stripping units/cubicles and discharge bedmaking.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician, with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year.
- American Heart Association ACLS certification required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent is mandatory.
Experience
- Specialty experience: Endoscopy clinical procedures, minimum 2 years preferred (based on recent experience requirement).
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
License Requirements
- Must hold appropriate licensure relevant to the Endoscopy Associate role (typically a clinical certification or license as applicable to the position).
