Job Summary
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote evidence-based practice through nursing processes, protocols, and procedures.
- Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
- Develop individualized plans of care collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Implement appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
- Continuously evaluate and document patient progress throughout the shift.
- Modify plans of care based on ongoing evaluation.
- Complete required documentation including patient charts and event reports.
- Demonstrate professional accountability and seek resources for self-development.
- Maintain technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice.
- Promote professional development of self and team members.
- Share clinical knowledge and provide teaching based on learning needs.
- Apply problem-solving skills to patient moving and handling issues, promoting safety.
- Obtain and perform bedside lab testing and quality control as ordered.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care through collaboration.
- Analyze clinical situations systematically and act to meet or exceed patient needs.
- Recognize need for assistance and utilize resources timely.
- Manage non-complex and some complex patient assignments with turnover.
- Prioritize work based on patient condition changes and interruptions.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to organize patient care tasks from admission to discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports.
- Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
- Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance and optimal patient outcomes.
- Adapt teaching strategies to patient/family age-specific needs and comprehension levels.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 3 years of cardiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
