Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech

Location: Sandy, Utah
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks (98 days)


Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic films for detecting breast tissue abnormalities. This role requires independent judgment, creativity, and initiative, working without constant supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper patient identification and order verification; prepare patients for exams.
  • Perform radiologic mammography exams following department protocols, including advanced procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages.
  • Operate mammographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Use equipment and techniques appropriately to ensure image quality and patient safety.
  • Apply radiation protection measures to safeguard patients and staff, complying with ALARA program requirements.
  • Stay current with new procedures and equipment to maintain high skill levels.
  • Maintain required records and documentation accurately, including time stamps and image storage, in compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competency in patient positioning for mammography.
  • Knowledgeable about breast self-examinations and able to provide patient education.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking.
  • Must have a personal radiation monitoring badge (dosimeter) for exposure tracking; prior badge use is encouraged if available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Imaging or Mammography.

License Requirement

  • Must hold a valid Mammography Technologist license or certification as required by the state of Utah.

Additional Notes

  • This position requires adherence to radiation safety protocols and continuous exposure monitoring.
  • Independent work capability and attention to detail are essential.
